My computer experience
When I look back at all of the computers that I have used so far in my life I am kind of in awe. It is hard to believe that in elementary school I had to hack away at an Apple 2E. I find it hard to believe that this machine is actually related somehow to my Macintosh G3. The computer has gotten so much more advanced since I was a kid, I practically grew up with computers but I still dont know all there is to know.
If you couldnt tell from my last paragraph I am a Mac user. I really have no preference between PC or Mac but the Mac is "supposed" to be better for graphics. I am a graphic design major so most of my knowledge is on design based programs such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, Page Maker, and Quark Express. I recently purchased my own Mac and since I have had the computer I have erased the hard drive three times due to complications, I installed my internal modem and internal Zip drive and I had to deal with the LSC tech department concerning the Network (a challenge in itself). A lot of the things that I know about the computer I learned by messing g up in the first place. In other words I learn the hard but more importantly I learned how to prevent mistakes in the future.
As far as classes, Last year I took CSC 106 (programming basic), and CSC 108. Unfortunately I didnt pass 108 mostly because of the teacher. I say this because our grade was only based on the tutorials in the book, which evidently he lost my set because I did them, handed them in and still got a 0.00 in the class. That is all I have to say about that but I assure you that I know how to use most of Microsoft Office. This year I am enrolled in your CSC 100 class and this class CSC 124. That is basically all of my formal training on the computer except for a typing class that I took in high school.
I am sort of on of those people who learns on the computer through trial and error but in the end I learn well. I am not a computer wiz, and I am not an illiterate, I am just an average user with average skills but I am always looking for mew things to do on the computer.
